I have to correct the part about Hobson/Hopson being in Green County before 1808. It is true about Hobson/Hopson going to Green County but it happened in 1799, when he gained 200 acres on Sinking Creek, south of the Green River, according to a KY land grant; Book 4 page 496. In the same year he sold land from Clark County; Deed Book 3 page 581 and then gained 130 acres in 1804 on Skeggs Creek, this time in Barren County; Book 4 page 497. In 1807 he gained another 70 acres on Skeggs Creek; Book 4 page 499. He lived at the "Head of Skeggs Creek" , near John Kincade (sic). In 1812 he either bought or sold 200 acres on Skeggs Creek (I don't know which, I don't have the full record) and there isn't any more references to his land gains or sales. Next, he was on the 1820 Census with a wife and nine children but not in KY as expected but in Franklin County TN. Hobson/Hopson (for those who prefer Hopson. Sounds the same on each pronounciation) was 57 year sold at the time and his wife Sarah McClure was over 45 years. This is the first year that their son Joseph appears on a Census (as a newly married man with one child).

On a side note: I thought I saw Hobson/Hopson on the 1850 Census of Franklin County Tennessee . I never made a copy at the Library or L.D.S. where I viewed this and so it is lost to me. Has anyone seen the 1850 Census Index of TN? If you have, do you remember seeing Hobson/Hopson on that Index? He would have been 87 years old at the time.
