      Married: 31 Jan 1843 in Brenham,Washington,TX (Probably Bond Date)

      W.P. Darby listed as a private on muster roll of Plum Grove Rifles,July 8,
      1861. Company of riflemen seems to have been a drill company only, a kind of
      "prep school" to fit the men for service in other companies and toprepare them for strenuous army life. After drilling, the men either volunteered or were drafted into other companies . W.P. was in the "Heel-fly squad" as it was called, to round up unwilling conscripts.(History of Early Fayette County, pgs. 275, 279.
      Darbys may have been Baptists in Plum Grove.
