      BASIN BUBBLES.
      ________

Editor Clipper:- Once more death has visited us here in the Basin, this time is has laid its icy hand upon one that has been tried and true in the cause of truth. We are called upon to record the death of our aged and beloved brother, James Burnett, who departed this life on the 10th of the present month, after an illness of eight to ten days.
Brother Burnett was born at Bishop, Startford, Hertford, England, May 29th, 1825. Emigrated to New Zealand in the spring of 1864; embraced the gospel some short time after, being baptized by Bro. Carl C. Asmussen who was on visit to New Zealand.
After embacing the gospel he labored diligently for a number of years to spread the cause of truth in that far off land.
He emigrated to Utah in 1876 and settled in Farmington, Davis county. A few years later removed to what was then termed the Sand Ridge, and in 1883 was appointed presiding elder over the Summit branch of the South Hooper ward. He was shortly afterward appointed superintendent of the Sunday school, which positions he honorably filled until the time of his demise.
It can be truly said of Bro. Burnett that he was faithful and energetic laborer in the cause of Christ. To say that we miss him in our public assemblies, is but a feeble expression; as he was always at his post of duty. We shall miss him everywhere. It was always a comfort to get Bro. Burnett to administer to the sick, and to cheer up the tried and despondent heart.
He will be mourned by his family which is quite numerous. He leaves a widow, and two children who are minors. We feel to say:

      Rest dear brother, sweetly slumber:
      Never more to be distrest.
Thy loved spirit counts a number
Among the noble God has blest.

Rest this clay so schooled to sorrow,
      Spirit gains a brighter goal,
      On the resurrection morrow
      Both unite.- A living soul.

      Blest are they who die in Jesus;
      Doubly sure is their reward,
For they rest from all their labors
Rest with joy in Christ the Lord.

There is a great deal of sickness among us here, young and old seem to be counted in, perhaps, owing to the severe changes in the weather.
      The Clipper is always welcome.
