Notes: This cemetery is also known as Mount Moriah Cemetery but the arch over the front gate says Moriah Cemetery 1933. This is a country cemetery sitting on top of a hill overlooking a crossroads. There are several very old headstones here, along with many unmarked graves and graves with only funeral markers to designate their final resting place. There are a few small wooden crosses marking a grave and many hand carved headstones. The 1933 beside the Moriah name is very misleading since there are many graves from the 1800's, the oldest marked readable one having a death date of 1853. Possibly the 1933 is when the cemetery was "formally" formed or took on the name of Moriah. Take Hwy. 135 from Gladewater to Kilgore. After you cross over I-20 watch for Goforth Rd.. Turn right. Go to the first stop sign and the cemetery will be slightly to your right and on top of the hill.
