| 62 | Concerning the Woodson name: " According to a number of reports, Chesley's wife's name was Judith Woodson Christian. I have seen, but have not verified that she was the daughter of Charles Christian and Judith Woodson. I don't know if that is accurate, but a Lunenburg Co, VA deed dated February 5, 1764, refers to "Chesley Daniel and Judith Woodson, his wife" (they are selling 1069 acres originally granted to Chesley's father, James). Judith clearly has a Woodson connection, and you just plain don't need for Chesley to have a separate connection of his own in order for them to have a son named Woodson." Reference: Judge W. B. Newman; "CAPTAIN WILLIAM DANIEL, of MIDDLESEX, some of his descendants and other Daniels of Virginia," and "GENEALOGIES OF VIRGINIA FAMILIES" from Tyler's Quarterly Historical and Genealogical Magazine, Vol.1. Many entries such as dates of birth, baptisms, and marriage dates have been verified in the Parish Register of Christ Church, Middlesex County, Virginia, 1650-1812. We are also the beneficiaries of a compilation of the work of Brunk Heinemann by Sheryl Neal Slaughter that may be found in the Daniel-L on line archives. | 66 | Deseret News, Wednesday, December 10, 2003 Obituary: Clark Spendlove 1927 ~ 2003 Dr. Clark Spendlove passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on December 8, 2003. Born in Hurricane, UT, Oct. 19, 1927; the 6th of nine children born to George Isom Spendlove and Lilly May Petty. Clark was educated at Branch Agricultural College, the U of U, and Washington University where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He practiced painless dentistry in the Army and in Southern California for 39 years. Clark married Eleanor Bennion April 8, 1955, in the Logan, Utah, Temple. They raised seven children: Lilly Ann (Dirk) Cotterell, Sue (Kevin) Jackson, Kerry (Camille) Spendlove, Jennifer (Tom) Burns, Sandy Wilson, Laura (Darrin) Crapo, Jon (Kim) Spendlove and Delilah (Ty) Sales. They now have 27 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. We had great times growing up with our dad. From family vacations, Dodger games, dinner in Chinatown, to flying kites, going on bike rides, and leg wrestling. He and our dear mom made our childhoods rich with love and fun, and prepared us for principled, meaningful adult lives. Clark will be remembered as the best man we ever knew. A kind, gentle and faithful husband, father, friend and servant of his Heavenly Father. He devoted years of committed service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This included 11 years as Bishop of the San Fernando, CA, Ward, 9 years as President of the Granada Hills, CA Stake, as well as serving a 2 year church service mission with Mom. His calling as a temple worker also brought him much happiness. Dad had a love for golf, working in the yard and the house. He will be greatly missed by his eternal companion, his family and friends and his ever-faithful dog, Fred. That's the story, and we're sticking to it! A special thanks to all of the Doctors, Nurses, and Hospice workers who cared for Dad during his illness. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 12, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Crescent 7th Ward, 949 East 10600 South, Sandy. Friends may call on Thursday, December 11, 2003 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy and at the church on Friday, from 10: to 10:45 a.m. Interment to follow at Wasatch Lawn. | 97 | Information from Janice Schoen Nov. 1999 Information on the Grinnell's is from the book of "The Descendants of Matthew & Rose (French) Greenell. Info on Anson is on pg. 202 generation NO. 9 Taken from a letter from James O. Coplien, 23, Nov. 1981; He was acarpenter by trade. He and family lived on a farm in the town of Adams, Green Co. He moved to the city of Monroe, Wi in 1897. Late in life, Anson had lost both legs from a bout with gangrene. He was nearly 80. He lived several years morel and refused to let the loss stop him, as the article quoted below from the MOnroe Evening Times, June 1,1936 shows: "Not every man at the age of 84 and with both legs gone would have the spirit and the strength to continue wood chopping activities, carpentry and gardening. But Anson W. Grinnell, 2002 Twelfth Avenue does. He has arranged a hig chopping block and has just the right knack of getting his wheelchair into proper position for good work with the axe. In the garden he propels himself along the rows, weilding the hoe in a way to keep the rows carefully cultivatived. And he continues his interest in his carpentry trade by placing his chair in a convenient position to his work bench.
