  • Notes
    • Lafayette McClure was a deaf mute according to family members and the 1880
census of Fayette Co., TX. According to his grandson, Lafayette would sit and
read the paper in the evening hours. When the kids got too rowdy,Lafayette
would rattle the paper and the children would settle down. Family stories have
it that Lafayette was a watch repairman by trade. He was also against his
daughters marriage to Dalton Allen, so much so that when she died there were
still bitter feelings between the two families. Fannie's son B. Nonie and his
two brothers didn't have any contact with the McCLure line after her death.
Dalton saw to it that there was no contact. Fannie's mother was alive until
the mid 50's and her grandchildren, grown by this time, didn't know who she
was, and that she was alive. Have copies of Dallas (1918) directory listing
      Fayette
and Addie living on Cockerell St.
