    21. Almera Woodward Johnson (Smith) (Barton), 1812-96, married Joseph Smith between April 2 and April 22, 1843, at age thirty. She was the sister of Delcena Johnson and a number of prominent Mormon johnsons, including Benjamin, Joseph Ellis, and Joel. After Smith's death, she married Reuben Barton on November 16, 1845, with whom she had five daughters, but he became disaffected and she left him in 1861 and came to Utah. She buried all of her five daughters, most of whom died as children; none married. The one daughter who lived the longest was retarded and lived with Almera for some thirty years in Parowan in southern Utah.
